Will GTA 6 come to PC — and what should you build for it?
GTA 6 launches 19 November 2026 on consoles only. Rockstar has announced no PC version — and its last three games took 8 to 19 months to get there. What that means for what you should build, with real prices from 1,567 NVSX quotes.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on 19 November 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Rockstar has not announced a PC version at all — no date, no system requirements, nothing. Going by how the last three Grand Theft Auto games shipped, a PC release realistically lands somewhere between late 2027 and 2028. If you are about to buy a graphics card for GTA 6, you have roughly a year longer than you think.
That gap is the single most useful fact in this post, so it is worth being precise about where it comes from — and about what the number means for anyone shopping for a PC in India right now.
Rockstar's actual track record on PC ports
Rockstar has never launched a mainline GTA on PC alongside consoles. Not once.
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA IV | April 2008 | December 2008 | ~8 months |
| GTA V | September 2013 | April 2015 | ~19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | ~13 months |
The pattern is consistent enough to plan around, and inconsistent enough that anyone quoting you a specific GTA 6 PC date is guessing. Applied to a 19 November 2026 console launch, an 8-month gap puts PC in mid-2027 and a 19-month gap puts it in mid-2028. PC Gamer and GamesRadar both land in the same window, and neither has anything official to work from either.
One more thing worth knowing: Rockstar did not even confirm a PC version of GTA IV until several months after the console release. Silence right now tells you nothing about whether the port exists. It almost certainly does. It just is not being talked about.
What console players actually get on day one
This part matters for PC builders, because it sets the bar your machine has to clear.
Digital Foundry's analysis of the gameplay footage puts the game at roughly native 1440p, upscaled to 4K, at 30 fps on both base PS5 and Xbox Series X, with no performance mode expected. Xbox Series S is expected to drop considerably lower — reporting points at something closer to 720p, still at 30 fps. Ray-traced global illumination is used throughout and is described as fundamental to how the game looks, rather than a toggle.
The interesting part is why 60 fps looks unlikely, even on PS5 Pro. It is not the GPU. GTA 6's open world runs dense traffic, pedestrian AI, physics and weather simulation, and that work lands on the CPU, largely on a few threads. PS5 Pro has a much stronger GPU than the base PS5 and only a modest CPU uplift, which is exactly the wrong shape of upgrade for this bottleneck. Digital Foundry calls a locked 60 unlikely on Pro for that reason.

What that means for a PC build
If a console is CPU-limited at 30 fps, a PC that wants 60 or more is going to be leaning on its processor harder than most people expect. This is where the usual Indian build advice gets it backwards — most builds we are asked for put nearly everything into the graphics card.
Here is what we actually quoted over the last 180 days. These are complete builds, GST included, not part prices.
| Graphics card | Quotes | Median build | Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| RTX 5090 | 33 | ₹9,54,177 | ₹6,34,995 – ₹30,46,027 |
| RTX 5080 | 55 | ₹4,30,262 | ₹2,39,829 – ₹6,66,101 |
| RTX 5070 Ti | 120 | ₹2,91,401 | ₹1,99,272 – ₹5,29,184 |
| RTX 5070 | 79 | ₹2,05,967 | ₹1,65,670 – ₹3,89,641 |
| RTX 5060 Ti | 408 | ₹1,95,413 | ₹92,292 – ₹4,42,223 |
| RTX 5060 | 184 | ₹1,39,574 | ₹35,683 – ₹2,19,681 |
Two things in our own numbers are worth pointing out, because they run against the advice this game specifically calls for.
Only 9% of the processors we quote are X3D parts. Across 1,261 CPU line items, the most requested chip by a distance is the Ryzen 5 9600X, followed by the 9700X. The 9800X3D — the chip whose large cache is precisely what helps in CPU-bound open worlds — accounts for 86 of those 1,261 lines. For a game built the way GTA 6 is built, that ratio is the wrong way round.
Memory is split almost exactly down the middle. Of 692 DDR5 line items, 47% are 16GB and 45% are 32GB. GTA V shipped asking for 8GB. A 2026 open world with this simulation density is not going to be comfortable on 16GB, and 32GB is the sensible floor for a machine you expect to still be using when the port lands.
So what should you actually build, in rupees
Under ₹1,20,000 — build for what you play now. Buy the machine that runs the games on your drive today. Anything in this band will need a graphics card upgrade before GTA 6 reaches PC regardless, so optimise for the present and leave the PSU and case with room to grow.
₹1,50,000 to ₹2,20,000 — the sensible zone. A current-generation 8-core, 32GB of DDR5, and a card in the 5060 Ti to 5070 class. This is where most of our real builds land, and it is a machine that will still be respectable in 2028. Put the extra money into the CPU rather than one GPU tier up; the CPU is the part you are least likely to swap.
₹2,50,000 and above — buy the X3D. If you are spending this much and GTA 6 is genuinely part of the reason, the 9800X3D is the part that will still be paying off when the port arrives. Pair it with a 5070 Ti or 5080 and 32GB, and you have a machine comfortably ahead of what a PS5 will be doing.
You can see what these budgets actually produce on our recent builds page — every machine there is listed with its full parts list and the price it was built for.
When the honest answer is "don't"
Do not buy a graphics card today for GTA 6. This is the important one. A card bought in August 2026 for a game that reaches PC in 2028 is a card you paid 2026 prices for and will use for eighteen months of games it is already overkill for. Whatever launches between now and then will be faster and cheaper. Buy for the games you are playing this year.
Do not upgrade a working PC on the strength of a rumour. There are no GTA 6 PC system requirements. Anyone publishing a "minimum spec" for it right now made it up. When Rockstar publishes real requirements, you will have months of warning.
Do not buy a console purely for the eighteen-month head start unless you genuinely want a console. A PS5 plus the game is real money for playing one title earlier and at 30 fps — and the PC version, whenever it lands, will be the better one.
Do buy now if your current machine is struggling today. That is a real problem with a real solution, and it has nothing to do with a game that is over a year away.
In short
- GTA 6 arrives 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC version has been announced.
- Rockstar's last three games took 8 to 19 months to reach PC. Expect somewhere between late 2027 and 2028.
- Consoles are looking at roughly 1440p/30 with ray-traced GI, and Series S considerably lower. A 60 fps mode looks unlikely even on PS5 Pro.
- The ceiling is CPU, not GPU — which is the opposite of how most builds get specced.
- 32GB of DDR5 is the sensible floor for a machine you want to still be using when the port lands.
- If you are building anyway, put the money in the processor. If you are building only for GTA 6, wait.
If you want a machine specced for what you actually play, tell us what that is and we will come back with a build and a price — including the version where we tell you to spend less. Or read how we approach custom PCs before you ask.
Our figures come from 1,567 NVSX quotes raised between March and August 2026, covering 1,261 CPU line items and 692 DDR5 memory line items. Build prices are medians of complete quoted systems inclusive of GST, not part prices. Console performance figures are third-party analysis of pre-release footage, not official Rockstar specifications. Last updated 30 August 2026.
