Prebuilt vs Custom Gaming PC: Which to Buy in India?
Buy a prebuilt if you need a PC this week, your budget is under ₹1.5 lakh, or the seller names every part and answers four simple questions. Go custom if you want to choose every part, get each one on a GST invoice in your name, and have one number to call when a part fails.

We build custom PCs in Pune, so you know which side we sell. This is the honest version, including the cases where we would tell you to buy a prebuilt.
What is the difference between a prebuilt and a custom PC?
A prebuilt is assembled ahead of time to a fixed spec and sold as one product, by a PC brand or a shop. You choose from the models on offer.
A custom PC is built to your order. You, or the builder with you, choose each part: processor, graphics card, memory, storage, cooler, power supply and case. Then it is assembled and tested for you.
There is a third route: buying the parts and building it yourself. We cover that too.
When is a prebuilt the right choice?
There are real cases where a prebuilt is the better buy:
- You need a PC this week. A prebuilt can be bought today. A custom build is made to order, so there is a wait, and that includes ours.
- Your budget is under ₹1.5 lakh. That is where our custom gaming PCs start. Below it, a prebuilt or building it yourself may be the more practical route. Tell us your budget anyway, and we'll say honestly whether it is realistic.
- The spec sheet checks out. If a prebuilt names every part, including the power supply and memory, the price is fair for those parts, and the seller answers the four questions below, there is nothing wrong with buying it.
- You don't want to think about parts at all. If you would rather pick a machine from a page than talk through a parts list, a prebuilt from a seller you trust is a reasonable way to buy.
What does a custom gaming PC give you?
- Every part chosen for your games and your screen, including the two that are easy to overlook. A power supply without headroom for a modern graphics card's sudden power peaks can shut the PC down mid-game, and fans left at their out-of-the-box settings can make it run hot and loud.
- An itemised quote and a GST invoice in your name. Every part is named before you pay. Because each part is on an invoice in your name, each maker's warranty is yours. Our quote comes on WhatsApp, usually the same day.
- Testing before it ships. Every PC we build is stress-tested before dispatch. Our recent builds show real machines with their parts and their temperatures at full load.
- One number to call when a part fails. Our 3-year service warranty makes labour, diagnosis and claim handling free for 3 years. Parts are covered by each maker's warranty, and we handle the claim.
How do prebuilt, custom and DIY compare?
| Prebuilt | Custom (how we build) | Build it yourself | |
|---|---|---|---|
| When you have it | Can be today | Built to order, so you wait | Once every part arrives and you've built it |
| Who picks the parts | The seller | You, from an itemised quote | You |
| Every part named before you pay | Depends on the seller | Yes, in the quote | Yes |
| Tested before you get it | Ask the seller | Stress-tested before dispatch | You test it |
| When a part fails | The seller's warranty terms | One call to us; labour free for 3 years | You claim from each maker |
| Best when | You need it now, or the spec and price check out | You want every part chosen and one number to call | You enjoy building and have a free weekend |
What should you ask any seller before you pay?
Whether you buy a prebuilt or a custom build, ask these four questions. A good seller answers all of them in writing.
- Is every part on a GST invoice in my name? That is what makes each maker's warranty yours.
- Which exact parts are inside, including the power supply and memory? Ask for the brand and model of each, not just a category.
- Was it stress-tested, and can I see the results?
- Who do I call when a part fails, and who pays for the labour?
Our answers: yes, every part is on an invoice in your name; every part is named in the quote; every PC is stress-tested before dispatch; and you call us, with labour, diagnosis and claim handling free for 3 years.
What does each budget buy in a custom gaming PC?
Start from the screen you play on. The sharper the screen and the higher the settings, the stronger the graphics card it needs. Here is where our builds start, with GST, parts and assembly included:
| Your screen | Graphics card | Our builds start at |
|---|---|---|
| 1440p on a 27-inch monitor | RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, or AMD's RX 9060 XT | ₹1.5 lakh |
| 4K at high settings | RTX 5070 Ti or RTX 5080, 16 GB each | ₹2.6 lakh |
| 4K with every setting maxed | RTX 5090, 32 GB | ₹8.5 lakh |
One check worth making on any prebuilt: NVIDIA sells the RTX 5060 Ti with either 8 GB or 16 GB of memory, so look for which one is inside. Graphics memory figures are NVIDIA's published specs; our RTX 50 series page covers each card, and our gaming PC page shows a typical build at each budget.
Is a custom gaming PC worth it in India?
It is worth it if you will use what it adds: parts chosen for your games, an invoice in your name, testing before it ships, and one number to call for 3 years. Ours is the wrong choice if you need a PC this week, or if your budget is below ₹1.5 lakh, where our builds start.
If you're weighing us up: we have built 1,000+ PCs in Baner, Pune, since 2018. Delivery is free to your door in Pune and insured across India. We are an authorised partner/dealer of AMD, NVIDIA, ASUS, Corsair, Intel, MSI, Lian Li and Razer, so the quote can recommend NVIDIA or AMD graphics for your games. Our custom PCs page shows how we build and test.
Frequently asked questions
Is a prebuilt gaming PC cheaper than a custom one?
It depends on the parts, so compare like for like. Get the full parts list from both sellers, including the power supply, memory and cooler, and compare them part by part. Our quote names every part.
Do you sell ready-made gaming PCs?
No. Every PC we sell is built to order, so every part is on a GST invoice in your name and the stress test is done on your machine.
Should I build it myself instead?
Maybe. If you enjoy it, have a free weekend, and are happy to be your own warranty department, do it. Already have a parts list? Send it and we'll check the power supply, the cooler and the memory for free.
Is the warranty the same outside Pune?
Yes. Every PC has the same 3-year service warranty wherever it ships: labour, diagnosis and claim handling are free for 3 years, and parts are covered by each maker's warranty. We ship insured across India; free doorstep delivery is for Pune.
Can I pay in EMI?
Yes, as card EMI through your own bank: pay by card and your bank can convert the payment to EMI. You can also pay by UPI or bank transfer.
Tell us your games, your monitor and your budget. We'll send an itemised quote on WhatsApp, usually the same day: get a quote.
